The other part of the gameplay is exploring the ruins, which constitutes some decent enough dungeons with puzzles to complete. The game has a lovely soundtrack, and the music changes depending on if you are on the ground or flying through the air. The game has a low-poly art style, and the world as a whole is very beautiful. In practice it is very fun to fly around once you have the controls down (there are options to fine-tune to your preferences, such as sensitivity and camera inverting). The primary gameplay is Auk being able to shapeshift into a bird while in the air and flying around the world. The game is about the player character, Auk, going on a pilgrimage throughout floating islands to uncover the secrets of ancient ruins and stop the Void from destroying the world. Follow the path forward, which will wind back and forth a few times before coming to a long, straight bridge.Ĭrossing this and entering into the pitch black field beyond will trigger the final cutscene of the game.AER: Memories of Old is an open world adventure game developed by Forgotten Key and released in 2017. Go through the doors to find another long, dark hallway. Finally, the player is brought to the doors housing the Void, with a final cutscene showing Karah disappearing into the tattoo on Auk's arm, causing it to glow with her dying light. Note that while Karah urges expediency, there are no consequences for dawdling.Īlong the path, Karah will stop several times to explain that Auk is the only person that can stop the Void from breaking free from its prison and destroying the world, and that it must be done alone, as Karah's light is fading and she cannot help. Continue straight until the end of the hall, then bank a sharp right, up a ramp made by a toppled stone slab. Finally, Karah warns that she will only be able to protect Auk for a limited time as they navigate the prison of the Void.Īfter this dialogue is exhausted, follow Karah as she floats ahead and illuminates the path. She explains that Auk carries the same light in her that was gifted to Karah by the creator, and that it was this light that has protected Auk from the Void. Reuniting with the floating light, now freed from the lantern, will trigger a dialogue in which the light reveals itself to be Karah.
